Writing is more than a way of recording knowledge: it is discovery, exploration, creation.
Sometimes I need a container for the unspeakable, or a moment breathed in for later examination; a poem is all that will answer. Other times a complex topic cries out for analysis, synthesis and exploration, and I turn to an essay. Or a voice wakes me in the night and won’t let go until the story is told. Or tears are coming so fast that only laughter will heal. Other times . . . .
There is no knowing what lies around the next curve, or even whether I will reach it. But writing offers unparalleled opportunities to make the most of the journey while it lasts. Come along — walk a little way with me along the road. Who knows what we’ll find?
